Peloponnese, the homeland of the ancient gods has retained its original character and is largely unaffected by tourism. Every mountain and spring is referred to in the ancient myths. The site of Ancient Olympia, where the Olympic Games first took place, has become a renowned attraction worldwide.
Kyllini lies on the western coast of the Peloponnese, in the region of Ilia, just 45 minutes from Araxos airport and 100 km from the seaport of Patras. Passenger and car ferries sail regularly between Patras Harbour and Piraeus (Athens), Corfu, Santorini and various other Greek islands and the mainland of Italy. Kyllini Harbour has sea connections to Zakynthos, Kefalonia and other Ionian Islands.
