Peloponnese, the homeland of the ancient gods has retained its original character and is largely unaffected by tourism. Every mountain and spring is referred to in the ancient myths. The site of Ancient Olympia, where the Olympic Games first took place, has become a renowned attraction worldwide.
Kyllini lies on the western coast of the Peloponnese, in the region of Ilia, just 45 minutes from Araxos airport and 100 km from the seaport of Patras. Passenger and car ferries sail regularly between Patras Harbour and Piraeus (Athens), Corfu, Santorini and various other Greek islands and the mainland of Italy. Kyllini Harbour has sea connections to Zakynthos, Kefalonia and other Ionian Islands
The region has become famous all over the world for its numerous and important archaeological findings, but mostly, for the remnants of the ancient Olympia. A big number of beautiful villages are spread all over its mountains and each one carries its own legends and traditional wealth. Every little spot of land is cultivated with olive trees, grapevines, orange trees and other. As for the coastline… the thin white sand spreads for many kilometres, by the beautiful and limpid blue sea.
There are many places worth your visit, spread in a short distance in the area surrounding the Resort: Beautiful landscapes, unique ancient monuments like the temple of Apollo Epicurus, traditional settlements like the picturesque Lambeia and the colourful villages of Andritsena, Karytena and Dimitsana, the famous mineral springs of Kaiafa, the seaside settlements of Kourouta and Arkoudi well known for their intense night life and the unique sunset over the Ionian Sea- and, of course, the fabulous Forest of Foloi, that used to give shelter to the mythical Centaurs.
